Seoul, Korea - LG Electronics announced on the 30th that it launched video conference system with a twice greater video compression ratio.
The new video conference system adopted the latest video compression technology, ‘H.264 High Profile,’ to significantly improve the compression ratio. With the latest compression technology, HD-quality video can be transmitted without interruption even under a low data transfer speed. The system also adopted FEC technology that controls the bandwidth, so that data can be communicated with minimal interference in an unstable network and compensates damaged audio data to enhance its quality.
The system includes web-based recording as its basic function, allowing the participants to easily record the conference with their PCs, without special recording equipment. Two pieces of display can be connected to the system to display the participants on one and display the presented contents on the other. The system has a 3 megapixel camera that can provide HD quality pictures and zoon in to the maximum of 7 times. The camera can be controlled to pan and tilt using a remote controller. The system comes with a KRW 5 million price tag.

LG전자는 압축률이 두 배 가량 개선된 화상회의 시스템(VCS•Video Conference System)을 출시했다고 30일 밝혔다.
제품은 첨단 영상압축 기술인 `H.264 하이 프로파일`을 적용해 압축률을 크게 개선했다. 낮은 데이터 전송속도에서도 HD화질 영상을 끊김 없이 전송할 수 있다. 불안정한 네트워크에서도 데이터 통신이 가능하도록 대역폭을 제어하고 손실된 음질을 보정하는 기술(FEC)을 탑재했다.
웹 기반 녹화를 기본 기능으로 채용, 녹화 장비 없이도 PC에서 손쉽게 회의 장면을 녹화할 수도 있다. 두 대의 디스플레이를 연결해 하나는 화상회의, 다른 하나는 콘텐츠 공유용으로 활용할 수도 있다. HD 고화질 영상을 제공하는 300만화소 카메라는 최대 7배까지 확대가 가능하다. 리모컨으로 카메라 회전과 기울기 조절이 가능하다. 판매 가격은 500만원이다.
