Seoul, Korea - LG U+ announced on the 12th that it is introducing U+ Biz Web Fax service, Korea’s first online fax service that uses VoIP and PSTN networks simultaneously, allowing the users to send large volume of fax at low cost. Web fax is a service that allows users to send and receive fax anywhere, anytime without fax machines, as long as their devices are connected to the networks.
The existing web fax service of LG U+, Magic Fax, depended only on the PSTN network, and when the transmission volume spiked, additional lines had to be added to handle the load. U+ Biz Web Fax uses VoIP network also, which can send up to 7 times more information at a faster speed than the traditional PSTN. LG U+ also developed its own fax engine to flexibly add the lines when transmission volume changes.

LG유플러스, 국내 최초 VoIP 기반 웹팩스 출시
LG유플러스가 국내 최초로 인터넷전화(VoIP) 망과 시내전화(PSTN) 망을 동시에 활용해 적은 비용으로 다량의 팩스를 전송할 수 있는 `U+Biz 웹팩스`를 출시했다고 12일 밝혔다.
웹팩스는 별도의 팩스기가 없어도 유선망이 연결되어 있으면 언제 어디서나 팩스를 송•수신할 수 있는 서비스다.
기존 이 회사의 웹팩스 서비스인 `매직팩스`는 PSTN 망만 이용해 발송량이 갑자기 증가할 경우 회선을 추가 설치해야 하는 단점이 있었다.
`U+Biz 웹팩스`는 기존 유선전화 망보다 최대 7배 많은 정보를 더욱 빠르게 보낼 수 있는 인터넷 전화망을 국내 최초로 웹팩스 서비스에 적용하고 자체팩스 엔진을 개발, 필요 시 즉각 회선을 증설할 수 있도록 했다. 발송 대기시간 단축•수신자 우선순위 선택 등 편의성도 대폭 높였다.
최기무 LG유플러스 솔루션담당 상무는 “중소기업과 소호(SOHO)사업자의 비용부담을 줄여주고 업무 능률을 향상시킬 수 있을 것”이라며 “앞으로도 차별화된 차세대 기업용 서비스를 지속적으로 선보일 계획”이라고 말했다.
