The project calls for enlarging the LPG storage capacity to 250,000 tons from current 130,000 tons of a terminal in Chon Buri, 80 kilometers southeast of Bangkok, by November 2015. Samsung C&T will form a consortium with Italian-Thai Development plc, Thailand`s largest construction firm, and implement the project on an EPC (engineering, procurement and construction) basis.

 

Samsung C&T has had ample experience in building LNG terminals in and outside Korea, including the ones in Pyeongtaek and Incheon, Qatar and Singapore. By acquiring Whessoe Oil & Gas Ltd., a UK-based company specializing in LNG storage tank and regasification terminal design, in March this year, Samsung C&T is now capable of implementing the whole process of building LNG terminals from design to pilot run.
