Seoul, Korea - Samsung Electro-Mechanics is going to establish its 9th production base in Vietnam. Samsung Elector-Mechanics chose Yên Bình Industrial Zone as its second smartphone production base. The company plans to manufacture camera modules and print circuit boards (PCB) for smartphones in Vietnam and supply them to Samsung Electronics. Samsung Electro-Mechanics said that it decided to invest KRW 68.436 billion in establishing a new local subsidiary in Yên Bình Industrial Zone. The investment amounts to 1.73% of the company’s net worth. At first, Samsung Electro-Mechanics approved the investment of $ 60 million necessary for the establishment of a local subsidiary company. In total, the company is going to invest $ 750 million in Vietnam, including the initial investment. The size of the new factory to be established in Yên Bình Industrial Zone is 260,000 square meters and is the biggest among the company’s overseas production base. The factory will be put into operation in the second half of next year and will be equipped with facilities for the production of electronic parts like HDI and camera module for smartphones and smart pads. When the factory is completed, Samsung Electro-Mechanics will have a total of 9 overseas production base: China (5), Thailand (2) and the Philippines (1).

옌빈공단은 삼성전자가 베트남 제2 스마트폰 생산 거점으로 낙점한 곳이다. 삼성전기는 카메라모듈·인쇄회로기판(PCB) 등을 베트남에서 생산해 삼성전자 스마트폰에 공급할 계획이다.
삼성전기(대표 최치준)는 684억3600만원을 투자해 베트남 타이응웬성 옌빈공단에 신규 법인을 설립하기로 했다고 4일 밝혔다. 자기자본 대비 1.73%에 해당하는 금액이다.
삼성전기는 우선 법인설립에 필요한 자본금 6000만달러에 대한 출자를 승인했다. 이번에 결정한 6000만 달러를 포함해 내년까지 총 7억5000만달러(약 8500억원)를 베트남에 투자할 계획이다.
삼성전기 옌빈 공장은 생산거점 중 최대 규모인 26만㎡(약 8만평)에 육박한다. 스마트폰·스마트패드용 주기판(HDI)·카메라모듈 등 전자부품 생산을 위한 설비를 마련하고, 내년 하반기에 본격 가동할 계획이다. 베트남 공장이 완성되면, 삼성전기는 중국(5개소), 태국(2개소), 필리핀(1개소) 등 총 9개 생산거점을 확보하게 된다.
삼성전기 관계자는 “우수 인력을 유치하기 쉽고, 산업 인프라도 발달해 베트남을 새로운 생산거점으로 낙점했다”며 “삼성전자 스마트폰 생산량 증가에 따른 수혜”를 기대했다.
