SEOUL, KOREA- The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced on August 15 that it ordered voluntary recalls for the four models Chrysler Korea imported and sold (1,843 units), including the Grand Cherokee, Jeep Commander, Dakota, and Jeep Compass. The ministry said that the 1,724 units of the Jeep Grand Cherokee and Jeep Commander produced between July 14, 2004 and April 26, 2010, were found to have defects in electronic control systems, making it possible for them to move even when they are in parking state.

The 27 units of the Dakota assembled between July 1, 2009 and November 30, 2009 also were found to have a defect in differential gear. The 92 units of the Jeep Compass produced between October 18, 2011 and May 7, 2012 turned out to have a malfunctioning fuel tank hose, making it susceptible for them to stall while running.

The owners of these vehicles can have a free after-sales service at Chrysler Korea service centers from August 16.
