SEOUL, KOREA- Hyundai Motor set this year’s sales target for the “New Avante” at 49,500 units, including 10,000 units of diesel models. The company held a test drive event for the New Avante in Yangpyeong in Gyeonggi Province on August 20.A Hyundai Motor official said, “We expect to be able to achieve our annual sales target, considering that 6,000 units of the New Avante were already sold through pre-orders.”
Hyundai Motor added a diesel version, a fuel type preferred today by many Korean consumers. In addition, the “New Avante” is mounted with a variety of convenience features, raising expectations that it could be sold more than 10,000 units a month.
Even from 2005 when consumer preference for diesel models was not high, Hyundai Motor added diesel models to its lineups, including Sonata, Avante XD, and Avante HD.
When it comes to the Accent model, the share of diesel version in total sales accounted for about 35 percent, while those for i30 and i40 models reached 55 percent and 75 percent, respectively.
