SEOUL, KOREA - Lotte Liquor is stepping up efforts to make inroads into the Chinese market. The company announced on August 27 that it will make forays into the Chinese market by strengthening its refined rice wine lineups, including "Seolhwa" and "Korean Ginseng Wine."
Lotte Liquor marked a 29.8-percent growth in overseas exports in the first half of this year. In particular, its shipments to China shot up to 140,000 boxes, up about 30 percent year on year.
By item, its soju exports grew by 23.4 percent from a year ago, while those of "refined rice wine" items, including "Cheongha" and "Subok" jumped by 122.3 percent. Its exports of plum liquor, including "Seoljungmae," rose by 67.8 percent.
A Lotte Liquor official said, "We expanded our sales activities in China by re-establishing our sales network there which was limited to Beijing, Shandong, and Guangdong. We explored new markets, which led to an increase in our sales there."
