SEOUL, KOREA- Samsung Engineering said on September 13 that it has won a US$770 million project to build a gas terminal in Malaysia. The order was commissioned jointly by Petronas Carigali, a unit of Malaysia's state-run Petronas, and Hess Corp., a U.S. energy company.

The project calls for building a gas processing facility in Kerteh, Terengganu State, about 260 kilometers northeast of Kuala Lumpur, by July 2016. The plant will be capable of producing 700 million cubic feet (19.8 million cubic meters) of gas a day by eliminating impurities from natural gas extracted from offshore fields such as carbon dioxide and hydrogen sulfide.

Samsung Engineering will take charge of all processes from procurement to construction, and to pilot operation. On the same day, the share price of Samsung Engineering closed at 89,000 won, down 0.44 percent from the previous day's 90,300 won.
