SEOUL, KOREA- Japan’s Nissan Motor is set to release New Rogue, a strategic model targeting the North American market, at the end of this year. Renault Samsung, which will produce New Rogue at its Busan factory from next year, started preparation for the business.According to the automobile industry on September 29, Nissan will start producing a follow-up model of Rogue at the Smyrna factory in Tennessee in November 2013. The New Rogue will be sold at a price of $23,350 (basic type).
The New Rogue is an urban-type SUV targeting the young car buyers in the U.S. The model will be a full-change model that features a change in design and power train.
Originally, Nissan planned to produce 100,000-120,000 units of Rogue at the Tennessee factory. However, this year's production is expected to surpass the 150,000-unit mark thanks to higher-than-expected sales. The Rogue was sold 113,316 units during the January-August period of this year in the North American market, up 16 percent from a year ago.
To cope with the increase in demand for Rogue, Nissan plans to adjust the supply volume through cooperation between Tennessee plant and Renault Samsung's Busan factory. Renault Samsung will produce 80,000 units of Rogue per year from next year, which will be exported to North America, a volume equivalent to about 60 percent of the Busan factory's annual output of 150,000 units.
