Officially Sponsored by the Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC), the Vietnam International Communications Summit & Expo (also known as "Vietnam Comm 07") is jointly organized by Vietnam Posts & Telecommunications Group (VNPT) and Adsale Exhibition Services Ltd (Adsale), co-organized by Vietnam Advertisement & Fair Exhibition Company (VIETFAIR) and Vietnam Exhibition & Fair Center (VEFAC) closed with resounding success on September 22, 2007 at VEFAC. Over 18,000 trade visitors attended Vietnam Comm 07 to gain the latest ICT market information, gather local and overseas products information and experience the most up-to-date ICT solutions.
Vietnam Comm 07 received tremendous support from the Government and both overseas and local Ministries and Industry associations. The opening ceremony was officiated by H.E. Mr. Truong Vinh Trong, Politburo member - Deputy Prime Minister of S.R. Vietnam. Several key representatives of Vietnam Ministries in the field of Information and Communications, Posts and Telematics, Trade and Industry and Culture, Sports and Tourism together with Ministers from Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar officiated at the opening ceremony, which reflected the authoritative status of Vietnam Comm 07 in Vietnam ICT industry.
Occupying an exhibition area of 6,000sq.m, Vietnam Comm 07 gathered over 170 exhibitors from 17 countries and regions including Australia, China, France, Hong Kong SAR, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Russia, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, UK, USA, Vietnam, etc. Vietnam Comm 07 acquired sponsorship from numerous renowned international enterprises including SK Telecom, Cisco, Viettel, Orange, NTT DoCoMo, Huawei, UTStarcom, ZTE, Qualcomm, Alcatel- Lucent, PCCW Global, Nokia Siemens Networks, Invest Hong Kong, Motorola, MK Technology Group and 3C, etc. Their sponsorship signified the important role of Vietnam Comm 07 in the industry. The show also received overwhelming support from country pavilions organized by China CCPIT Electronics and Information Industry Sub-Council, Korea IT Business Women's Association (KIBWA), Malaysia Software Consortium of Penang (SCoPe) and Singapore Industrial Automation Association (SIAA). One of the new pavilion organizers, China Association of Communication Enterprises (CACE) formed a Cable and Optical Fiber Pavilion demonstrated China-made advanced products and technology. The above pavilion organizers brought over 70 high-tech enterprises of different sizes to Vietnam Comm 07, which were mostly new to the Vietnam market.
Occupying prominent display area at the fairground, various leading international enterprises demonstrated high-end ICT products and technologies, such as 3G, broadband, wireless & mobile communications, enterprise system, ICC, infrastructure solutions, IP & network technology, NGN, satellite, security, VoIP, Wi-Fi and WiMAX, etc. Not only the above ICT products and solutions could be widely used for industrial automation, medical, banking, transportation, hotels, etc., but also could apply to everyday lives.
One of theiri Diamond Sponsors, SK Telecom spotlighted her CDMA-technology mobile service, which was able to support High Speed Downlink Packet Access services, Satellite Digital Multimedia Broadcasting and other mobile Internet services, etc.
NTT DoCoMo, one of their Gold Sponsors, displayed her leading-edge mobile multimedia services "i-mode", the world's most popular mobile email / internet services, with the addition of credit-card, e-money and other e-wallet functions. To better illustrate the advantages and convenience brought by "i-mode", an eye-catching model was displayed for visitors' trial on various e-functions under the guidance of their onsite staff.
Orange, the Banquet Sponsor of Vietnam Comm 07, presented a selection of her most innovative solutions such as High-Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA), an ultrarapid access to mobile multimedia, which was able to provide both professional services such as email, access to corporate networks and general public services such as TV, games, music and the Internet.
Siae Microelettronica, one of the highest ranked microwave companies in the world based in Milan Italy, introduced her Pointto- Point digital microwave radio for PDH, SDH and Ethernet technologies, Point-to- Multipoint System for business Wi-Max and Hyperlan systems and advanced Network Management System. Other renowned enterprises such as Bharti, CBoss, Korea Telecom, Extel, Fargo, Function ATI, Sun & Sea, etc. also exhibited in Vietnam Comm 07. Some exhibitors even highlighted their products such as DVB-H system, satellite communication, routers, switches, celltrek and broadband equipments, etc. which were their first presence to Vietnam ICT market.
One of the greatest achievements of Vietnam Comm 07 was the support received from the major Vietnamese telecom operators, including show organizer VNPT and others like EVN, GPC Vinaphone, SPT, Viettel and VMS MobiFone. Their participation strongly demonstrated Vietnam's rapid development of ICT market and facilitated international information and technology exchange between local and overseas. To capture visitors' attention, exhibitors designed many gimmicks to highlight their presence, such as mini concert, karaoke, musical instruments performance, trial of 3G technology products and a lot of live demos of advanced technologies, etc.
Another breakthrough of Vietnam Comm 07 was the presentation of "Golden Cup" Technical Awards to various enterprises, who showcased their latest wireless communications products, services or technologies with significant impact to the industry. Winners of Golden Cup Award for NGN Equipment included Cisco, Huawei, UTStarcom and ZTE. Winners of Golden Cup Award for 3G Systems & Services included NTT DoCoMo, Orange, SK Telecom and S-Fone. Golden Cup Awards were also presented to enterprises winning the "Best Display", "Best Booth Design", "Most Interactive Booth" and "Media Favorite".
The 2-day concurrent summit formed the crucial part of Vietnam Comm 07. Over 20 renowned local and international corporations together with country ministries such as MIC of Vietnam, Ministry of Communication, Transport, Posts and Construction of Lao, Ministry of Export Development of Sri Lanka and Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications of Cambodia participated the summit for highlevel information and experience exchange under the main theme of "Business Opportunities in Vietnam Mobile & Wireless Industry in Integration Era" and "ICT Development - Convergence".
Numerous ICT hot topics, such as Wireless Convergence, Next Generation Services Providers, Future Broadband, IPTV, 2G to 3G Migration, IP Network, NGN, 4G WiMAX, Network Solutions and IT Applications were also addressed by wellknown global enterprises including Alcatel- Lucent, Blue Coat, Cisco, Comtech, Datang, Huawei, iBasis Global, Motorola, Nokia Siemens Network, NTT DoCoMo, Orange from France Telecom, PCCW Global, Qualcomm, UTStarcom, Vietnam Telecom International (VTI) - VNPT, Vietnam Datacommunications Company (VDC) - VNPT and ZTE, etc. A networking session was arranged after the first-day summit to provide more opportunities for further experience and information sharing between the speakers, audiences and exhibitors.
On the second day of the Summit, a Memorandum of Understanding" was signed between Hong Kong Wireless Development Centre and Radio-Electronics Association of Vietnam to strengthen cooperation of the two places in the future, which was another spotlight session of the Summit. In addition, another new concurrent event of Vietnam Comm07 was China Enterprises Introductory Conference, which was coorganized by VNPT, China National Postal & Telecommunications Appliances Corp. (PTAC) and Adsale Exhibition Services Ltd (Adsale). The Conference opened up channel for prominent China enterprises to present their company profile, products, technologies and services, etc. to their potential business partners in Vietnam in order to cultivate better understanding and pave the way for stronger cooperation in the future.
Vietnam Comm07 attracted over 18,000 local and overseas trade visitors. Visitors from over 20 countries and regions including Australia, China, France, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, US and Vietnam, etc. attended the show. The organizing team of Vietnam Comm07 announced that a telecom and electronics event, namely The 12th International Exhibition in Vietnam on Telecom, IT and Electronic Products, also known as "Vietnam Telecomp & Vietnam Electronics 2008" will be organized during November 26 - 29, 2008 at HoChiMinh City International Exhibition & Convention Centre. The last edition of Vietnam Telecomp & Vietnam Electronics in 2006 ended with excellent track record and it is expected Vietnam Telecomp & Vietnam Electronics 2008 will achieve even a greater success. Visitors welcomed this arrangement and over 80% of interviewed visitors indicated their interest in visiting the show next year.
