SEOUL, KOREA - A cargo ship AMS Pegasus I, which is under control by Korea Line Corp., is reported to have rescued 387 sailors from their disabled lumber ship in the sea near Sicily,Italy. According to the Korea Shipowners Association on September 16, the AMS Pegasus I joined the efforts to rescue the disabled ship upon request by the Italian Coast Guard on September 11.
The rescued boat was as mall lumber carrier which accommodated 385 multinational crews, including 177 Egyptians, 129 Syrians, 45 Somalis, and 16 Palestinians.
Korea Line provided them with food and drink, while giving emergency medical care to some patients.At the moment when the lumber ship was rescued, it was on the verge of sinking,with food and drink almost exhausted.
Korea Line also found another ship stranded around there and rescued two more Egyptians. The company brought the rescued people safely to Italian shore.
