SEOUL, KOREA - Nongshim’s mineralwater brand “Mt. BaekduBaeksansu” passed the 5-percent mark in monthly marketshare, first in 2014.
Nongshim announced onOctober 6 that Baeksansu gained a share of 5.1 percent in the domestic mineralwater market in August, ranking No. 3 among mineral water brands for twostraight months.
Baeksansu opened thisyear with a share of 3.2 percent in January and rose to a 4-percent level inApril. Thereafter, its market share has been on an upward trend.In contrast, theNo. 1 mineral water brand Samdasu, which gained a share of 46.3 percent inJanuary, continued on a downward trend, falling to 42.5 percent in August.
The sales of Baeksansuis growing at a rapid pace, reaching 3.7 million boxes (500mland 2 liter bottles)this year, up 62.2 percent from a year ago.The size of the mineral water marketis forecast to reach 600 billion won this year, up 11.1 percent from theprevious year.
