SEOUL, KOREA - The number ofimport cars newly registered during the month of September 2014 totaled 17,027units, up 34.4 percent year on year. According to the Korea Automobile Importersand Distributors Association on October 7, the number of newly registeredimport cars marked a positive growth of 3.6 percent in September compared to amonth ago.
For theJanuary-September period of this year, the number of newly registered importcars stood at 145,844 units, up 25.6 percent from a year ago.
By brand,Mercedes-Benz came on top with 3,538 units, followed by BMW with 3,303 units,Audi with 2,349 units, Volkswagen with 2,289 units, Ford (including Lincoln)with 733 units, Toyota with 666 units, Chrysler with 566 units, Lexus with 537units, Land Rover with 443 units, and Mini Cooper with 434 units.
By enginedisplacement, the vehicles with an engine displacement of less than 2.0 litersaccounted for the largest share of 51.4 percent or 8,751 units.
