SEOUL, KOREA - Hyundai Motor showed off its new i20, a strategic model targeting the European market, first at the Mondial de I’Automobile Paris 2014, held at the Parc des Expositions de Paris - Porte de Versailleson October 2.
With the releasing of the new i20, Hyundai Motor declared its will to make bigger forays into Europe’s B segment market which is now recovering after a long economic recession. The company also showcased a variety of eco-friendly vehicles, including i30 CNG bi-fuel and i40 48V hybrid, boasting its industry-leading environmental technologies.
The new i20 is Hyundai Motor’s ambitious model targeting the European market, developed by its research center in Russelsheim in Germany.
Hyundai Motor launched into the European B segment market first in 2002 with the Getz, followed by the releasing of the i20 in 2008. The new i20 will come in six years after its predecessor model i20 was launched.
Since it was released in late 2008, the i20 has been sold more than 400,000 units in Europe, including 59,000 in 2009, 66,300 in 2010, 73,000 in 2011, 78,100 in 2012, and 80,700 in 2013.
