SEOUL KOREA - Hyundai Motor and Kia Motors announced on November 24 that they expect their combined global sales to reach 8 million units this year.Their 2014 global sales estimates were revealed at Hyundai Motor Group’s strategy conference for expansion of exports held on the same day.
This would be the first time for Hyundai Motor Group’s annual global sales to pass the 8-million mark. The group broke the 7-million barrier two years ago in 2012.
During the conference, Hyundai Motor Group chairman Chung Mong-Koo said, “The market condition will likely to continue to remain tough. However, we should go all-out to pass the 8-million global sales level by placing more focus on exports.”
Hyundai Motor Group expects its global sales to exceed its annual target set at 7.86 million units by more than 140,000 units this year.During the January-October period of this year, Hyundai Motor Group sold 6.55 million units worldwide, up 4.8 percent year on year.
