The combustion test for the first-stage rocket engine of Naro, Korea's first satellite launch vehicle (KSLV-Ⅰ), will be carried out on July 30. After that, Naro is expected to be launched in mid-August.
If the combustion test proceeds as scheduled, scientists and engineers from Korea and Russia will begin consultations over Naro's launch schedule after reviewing the outcome of the test. The first-stage rocket for the launch vehicle has been developed by Russia's Khrunichev State Space Science and Production Center.
It normally takes two to three days to analyze the outcome of the test and about 10 more days to assemble the launch vehicle and prepare for its launch. The tentative date for the launch is either August 12 or 13.
