Seoul Korea - The New Genesis, a new mid-sized luxury sedan released by Hyundai Motor in November 2013, is gaining rising popularity, with its sales reaching 33,754 units during the January-November period of this year.
Compared to the sales of the old Genesis version which stood at 11,039 units during the same period of last year, the sales of the new Genesis registered a 205-percent growth.This is the highest annual growth among all kinds of automobile brands in Korea, including other domestic and import car brands.
Industry experts said that the 200-percent annual growth is an extraordinary event particular in the luxury car segment where the per-unit price is higher than 50 million won.
The New Genesis is a full-change model coming in five years after the first Genesis model was released in 2008. It was developed to rival German brands which are eroding the market share of Hyundai Motor in the domestic market.
