Internet shopping mall business is forecast to grow 14.3 percent next year, the highest among retail channels.
Key factors behind the bright prediction for Internet retailers include the expansion of the mobile shopping trend and the increasing efforts of offline retailers to strengthen their online presence.
According to the Korea Chamber of Commerce & Industry on December 10, online and mobile ranked high on the list of major consumption keywords for the year 2015.
“Omni channel consumption,” a word that refers to the consumption of using both online and offline channels, came on top in the list, followed by “mobile shopping,” “global consumption,” and “malling consumption.”
AKOCHAM official said, “Four out of ten people experienced mobile shopping and this trend will likely to expand further in 2015. The high growth of Internet shopping malls, led by mobile shopping, is expected to continue.”
In the meantime, the retail market is expected to grow 2.4 percent next year. The growth rate of the retail market fell 1.6 percent last year from 8.4 percent in 2011.
