Seoul Korea - CJ Cheil Jedang announced on January 6 that it aims to boost the annual sales of its “Alaska Salmon” up to 60 billion won this year, up more than 170 percent from a year ago. CJ Alaska Salmon is a canned salmon product made from fresh and wild salmon from Alaska.
Despite challenges posed by latecomers, the product achieved a market share of 52.7 percent,playing a leading role in the expansion of the canned salmon market.
CJ chalked up 35billion won in Alaska Salmon sales last year through releasing of various new items and promotion of recipe marketing and TV advertising.The company aims to expand its sales up to 60 billion won this year and 100 billion won next year.
Targeting the upcoming Lunar New Year season, CJ prepared 41 different kinds of salmon can gift sets,higher than last year’s 28, while aiming to generate Alaska Salmon sales of 11billion won during the holiday season, up more than 40 percent from a year ago.
