CJ CHEILJEDANG(www.cj.co.kr), Korea’s leading food company has launched “Turmeric Root Tea”, which contains turmeric, the regional product of Jindo-gun, Jeollanam-do Province in cooperation with e-mart, Korea’s largest retailer. With this partnership, CJ CheilJedang has a plan to boost the consumption of the regional products in charge of the process of production, distribution and sale.
The newly launched Turmeric Root Tea is a beverage only using turmeric from Jindo-gun, which boasts of four-season sea breeze and fertile soil, and it is made in a way that sliced and dry turmeric pieces were brewed in hot water. Tumeric usually has a bitter taste, so CJ CheilJedang added brown rice to make its flavor milder. The price of Turmeric Root Tea (500ml) is 1,500KRW, and you can purchase it in e-mart.
CJ CheilJedang has observed turmeric while studying traditional food materials with function, since it has high quality and availability with 70 percent of domestic production. Along with this, it has discussed the regional economy vitalization by taking advantage of turmeric with Jindo-gun and proposed the distribution to e-mart. In that the proposal was made with good cause of vitalizing the regional economy, e-mart readily accepted to carry out it.
“The turmeric business is not just making tea with turmeric for consumers to enjoy. It aims to help the regional economy of Jin-do by promoting its regional product,” said Park Sang-myun, marketing director of CJ CheilJedang, “As long as we start this business with a good cause, we will make this the success model of Create Shared Value (CSV) for CJ CheilJedang, e-mart and Jindo-gun to win together.”
