On April 9th, Seoul Gimpo Airport Wooridul Spine Hospital received the Minister of Health and Welfare award for attracting foreign patients and training foreign doctors to enhance the awareness of Korea’s medical service at Medical Korea 2015 Award held at InterContinental Seoul Coex.
Gimpo Airport Wooridul is a specialized hospital with a goal of attracting foreign patients from the beginning. In light of this, it established Wooridul International Patients Center in 2006 when there were few divisions for foreign patients in Korea and let the exclusive coordinators reside in the center to provide one-stop service from their entry and departure to follow-up management.
More than 8,000 foreign patients visit the Wooridul network so far including Russia, Middle East and Mongolia as well as even medical advanced countries like America, Japan and Europe. Wooridul has set up its website translated into seven different languages like Korean, English, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, Arabic and Indonesian language to offer real-time service and various medical services for convenience and safety of foreign patients.
In addition, Seoul Gimpo Airport Wooridul Spine Hospital reorganized Endoscopic spinal surgery training to become regular and made it intensive course including a program of minimal invasive surgery skills, where almost 36 spinal experts from America, Britain, Brazil, India, China and Japan participated.
“Watching those foreign patients and doctors visiting Wooridul Hospital makes me feel that Korea’s status in the medical field has been considerably enhanced. In particular, endoscopic spinal surgery is superior enough to lead other medical leading countries, so Korea’s medical skills are gaining the world confidence. Wooridul Hospital will continuously contribute to developing the medical industry and raising Korea’s national brand by transferring Korea’s excellent medical skills and services abroad,” said Lee Sang-wun, Wooridul Medical Foundation’s director.
