A living room which has intelligence

An Intelligent Home-Service Business Model is going to start with normal houses.

The Ministry of Knowledge Economy announced on September 7, 2009 that they will promote an Intelligent Home-Service Business Model as part of the intelligent home-network infrastructure constitution business from this September to February 2011. The Ministry said it will invest W6.6 billion (US$5.3million) during this decade for 1,617 sample houses.

This business will provide a unique service through a specialized consortium to ensure operational safety, which is a basic part of the service. It will also focus on Green-Home Service for saving energy and reducing greenhouse effects in the metropolitan area, Home-Care Service for the health care and safety of old people in Gyeongsang-do, and Home-Entertainment IPTV Service in the Honam area which enables a fun and happy life.

A model business for target houses will be selected by standards of each consortium, and the subject will be provided an intelligent home service for free during the business time. But subjects have to report feedback in conjunction with the service.

An official from the Ministry of Knowledge Economy said, "We can verify flexibility among the machine, services and content in the condition of normal houses through this business. We can also make a standard of home networks which is more reasonable and realistic."

For this business the Ministry of Knowledge Economy is going to hold a kick-off workshop at the Seoul Office of Education on September 15, 2009.
