Gyeonggi Institute of Science & Technology Promotion (GSTEP) joined hands with Skolkovo Technopark, known as Russia's Silicon Valley to facilitate over 10,000 ICT companies in the Gyeonggi-do province to make inroads into the Russian market.
GSTEP unveiled on June 3nd that GSTEP President Kwak Jae-won signed an MOU agreement with President Renat Batyrov on June 2nd(local time) at Skolkovo Technopark Innovation Center which is located on the outskirts of Moscow, Russia, to pave way for ICT companies to make forays into Russian market.
In fact, Skolkovo Technopark delegation has visited Pangyo Techno Valley twice on August and December of last year to discuss bilateral cooperation in the field of Science and Technology.
Skolkovo Technopark is Hi-tech Industrial Complex located in Moscow, that was established with a vision to develop Technology Commercialization and Hi-tech Science Technology based Economic System that are primarily focused on space science, health, energy, IT, and nuclear energy sectors. At present, the complex is occupied by around 1,000 companies, research institutes, and universities.
This agreement was designed to promote Korea-Russia international cooperation between Gyeonggi-do.Pangyo Techno Valley SW convergence clusters and Skolkovo Technopark, as an effort to offer ICT companies within the province and Pangyo Techno Valley occupant companies to advance into the Russia market.
Through this agreement, the bilateral organizations will form close partnership in terms of ▲facilitating ICT companies within the province to make forays into the Russian market, ▲Joint Studies and Implementation of Science and Technology Research Projects, ▲Knowledge and Science and Technology Information Exchanges, and ▲ Exchange between Researchers in Science and Technology.
On one side, GSTEP President Kwak Jae-won, prior to signing of the agreement, gave presentation on "Factors to Success of Korea's Creative Economy and Pangyo Techno Valley" at the Startup Village 2015, the International Innovation Entrepreneurs Conference as hosted by Skolkovo Foundation.
President Kwak introduced the excellence of ICT companies within the province and 600 hundred high-tech companies in the Pangyo Techno Valley and discussed with representatives of Skolkovo Foundation and participant Russian companies to explore opportunities in the Russian market.
, Kwak Jae Won, President of GSTEP stated that "This collaboration initiative will elicit achievements in Science and Technology between both organizations" and stressed that " GSTEP and Skolkovo Technopark will serve as grains for technology cooperation between High-tech companies of Korea and Russia by strengthening close bilateral cooperation".
