Asiana Airlines Signs Memorandum with Suseo Railway Corp.

Asiana Airlines said on July 10 that it signed a memorandum with SR Corp., the company responsible for building and operating the Suseo High Speed Railway which will connect Suseo in southeast Seoul with the existing Seoul-Busan KTX Railway through a spur line.

In the signing ceremony held at Asiana's main office in southwest Seoul, Asiana Airlines president Kim Su-cheon, Asiana IDT president Han Chang-soo, SR Corp. president Kim Bok-hwan, and SR Corp. vice president for sales Park Young-gwang were in attendance.

Under the terms of the agreement, Asiana will provide operational know-how in crew training and cabin supply procurement system. In addition, the two parties will engage in cross-promotions that combine airline and high-speed train services.

Kim Soo-cheon, Asiana Airlines president, said in a speech, "Although we start small in crew training programs, our partnership will be expanded further to make us strong partners." Han Chang-soo, Asiana IDT president, said, "Since April this year, Asiana IDT has worked on establishing an integrated information system for SR Corp. By leveraging our know-how and expertise in airline reservation and ticketing systems, we will try to create a state-of-the-art railway service system for SR Corp."
