HDC Shilla Duty Free will hire as many as 4,000 employees, with the duty-free shop expected to open in January 2016, right before the beginning of the Chinese Lunar New Year’s Day holiday.
Yang Chang-Hoon, co-CEO of HDC Shilla Duty Free, unveiled such a plan during his interview with the Yonhap News.
He said, “We expect to be able to open the shop on time as scheduled since Shilla Duty Free has the experiences of successfully opening and running duty free shops not only at Incheon International Airport but at other international airports like the Changhi and the Macao International Airport. Besides, Hyundai iPark Mall has in-depth expertise in retail business.”
A corporation will be set up during August to open the duty free shop and the construction will begin from early September and will be completed by December. Yang noted, “To run the duty free shop, we will hire up to 3,000-4,000 full-time employees without the intermediation of employment agencies.”
