Hanwha Q-Cells, Korea's photovoltaic module supplier, has moved into the United States market.
The company said on July 16 that it recently signed a long-term supply agreement with Sunrun Inc. for its modules worth 50 megawatts. The San Francisco-based company provides services related to residential solar power solutions including installation, repair and maintenance, and monitoring. Given most homes use a 5-kilowatt system on their rooftop, 50 megawatts are equivalent to about 10,000 families.
Paul Winnowski, Sunrun's chief operating officer, said, "We took the partnership with Hanwha Q-Cells as we know we could trust the company's high-efficiency module technology and services." Hanwha Q-Cells America president Lee Gu-young said, "With the latest deal, we will be able to take on America's residential PV market."
Earlier on July 15, Hanwha Q-Cells America held a seminar in San Francisco on the U.S. solar market and a corporation information exchange meeting jointly with the Chungcheong Region's market development delegates from the Korea Industrial Complex Corp. The event was organized by the South Chungcheong Creative Economy Innovation Center at the request of the region's companies.
