KT announced on July 17 that it will launch a smart car business through partnership with a location-based solution firm Thinkware.
KT plans to lead the smart car market by leveraging its LTE-based infrastructure and Thinkware’s big data solution as well as driver support systems.
The two parties will jointly work on the improvement of the quality of KT’s navigation application “Olleh Navi.” Within August, KT will launch a “streaming vector map” service by upgrading the map engine of the Olleh Navi, aimed at upgrading user convenience.
The two companies will also take part in the next-generation ITS (intelligent traffic system) trial project managed by the Korea Expressway Corp.
In addition, KT plans to release a smart driving solution “Inno Car” which is a vehicle driving record system. Inno Car would allow users to check a variety of information on engine, fuel efficiency, and driving record, through their smartphones.
