Korean Air chairman Cho Yang-ho, also chairman of Hanjin Group, has written a comment below an article expressing critical views of chairman Cho, which was posted on Korean Air’s in-house online bulletin board.
Korean Air co-pilot Choi wrote an online article titled “Dear Chairman Cho Yang-ho.” In the article, he lambasted Chairman Cho and Korean Air executives.
“All the insults and criticism from the public, leveled at Korean Air, were handled gracefully by Korea Air employees. Have you ever even tried to apologize to employees working in the field You seem to pay attention to what the public and the press say. Have you ever listened to what your employees have to say” Choi criticized.
“You have been surrounded by sycophants and corrupt officials who never give it to you straight. This is my last sincere advice for you since I’ve decided to leave Korean air. I beg you to take a listen to what flight attendants say,” Choi added.
On August 6, Chairman Cho wrote a comment below the article, saying “I felt grateful for your heartfelt advice that you had to give me leaving this company.”
“I am trying to listen to reasonable suggestions posted online by Korean Air employees including yours and to reflect them in managing this company. I will accept what I have to accept and radically fix problems and will not accept things that do not conform with the company’s principles,” Chairman Cho added.
“Though your ties with Korea Air end now, I will bear in mind your advice. I hope you will become a great pilot somewhere else who passengers can trust with their lives.” Cho mentioned.
“It’s the first time for Chairman Cho to post a comment online,” Korean Air said.
