Samsung Electronics is gearing up to gain a larger share in the Chinese market by leveraging its brand-new smartphone model Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge Plus.
China is the world’s largest smartphone market where major smartphone makers worldwide are vying fiercely to get the upper hand.
This is why the world’s leading smartphone makers Samsung Electronics and Apple are making extra efforts to establish a clearer profile there. Samsung Electronics launched the sales of Galaxy S6 Edge Plus in China from August 27, followed by the sales of Galaxy Note 5 on September 12.
If these cutting-edge models draw good response from Chinese consumers, it could help clear the way for Samsung Electronics to regain the top spot in the Chinese smartphone market.
Until the first half of last year, Samsung Electronics had kept the No. 1 spot there. However, it lost its top position to local suppliers such as Xiaomi and Huawei in the second half of last year. At the end of last year, Apple, armed with a larger screen iPhone, made stronger appeal to Chinese consumers, pushing Samsung Electronics out of top-five ranks in the market.
