LG Electronics released an exclusive Ultra HD content app for smart TVs as part of an effort to take the initiative in the Ultra HD TV market.
This is the first time among Korean TV makers to provide ultra HD contents through an exclusive smart TV app.
LG Electronics announced on October 12 that it would launch “Ultra HD World,” a web operating system 2.0 ultra HD content app. Through this app, LG will provide 130 different kinds of popular contents, including popular dramas and music videos.
LG Electronics plans to continue to strengthen the content lineup by adding more dramas, films, documentaries, music videos, and sports highlights.
An LG Electronics official said, “Amid expectations that the sales of ultra HD TVs would sharply increase in the future, we launched this service earlier than others to provide our clients more contents to enjoy.”
According to market research firm DisplaySearch, the share of ultra HD TV sales in overall TV sales is forecast to pass the 40-percent mark next year.
