Hyundai Securities predicted on Sunday Samsung Pay would be available in Samsung’s budget-priced smartphones in the first quarter of next year. This move will come as the payment service has limits in being competitive as it is currently only available in high-end Galaxy smartphones.
Kim Dong-won, a researcher of the securities firm, said, "Samsung Pay is expected to be used for diverse Galaxy variants including Galaxy E and Galaxy J, starting from new Galaxy A next year," adding, "Within two years, the payment service is highly likely to be available as a basic function of Samsung's entire smartphones (350 million units).
His prediction is based on that the production of ferrite sheet, the key module of Samsung Pay, was once dominated by Japanese companies but it has recently diversified into 5 to 10 companies in Korea and China.
