Tilon, a Korean developer of virtualization-based cloud computing solutions, said on November 11 that it had launched VDI (Virtual Desktop Infrastructure) public cloud service “Cloud My Desk (www.cloudmydesk.com)” in the domestic market.
Following its international market launch last month, Cloud My Desk, an app that provides users with the same computing environment of their desktop PC, hit the domestic market to to allow Korean users to use the service in their mother tongue. Factoring in demands from institutions and companies under the Act on the Development of Cloud Computing and Protection of Users, Tilon has developed the Korean-language version of Cloud My Desk with a focus on offering easy-to-use safe VDI services. Tilon plans to roll out a variety of bundled products for greater user convenience.
Users of Cloud My Desk can create their own virtual desktop and use the Windows-based virtual desktop on their smartphones, tablets or personal computers. In particular, if SMEs or individuals use Cloud My Desk, they can enjoy massive cost savings because they don’t have to spend money on the replacement or maintenance of their personal computers. Since users can access the same computing environment of their desktop PC anywhere anytime, Cloud My Desk is expected to greatly come in handy.
On top of that, Tilon is scheduled to launch the Plexer, a client specifically designed for Cloud My Desk, within this year to let users access the Cloud My Desk service via the Plexer. Thus, once budding entrepreneurs or people living in studios or officetels join Plexer payment plans, they can easily access their own Windows-based virtual desktops without purchasing personal computers.
