Hyundai Motors said on Sunday it demonstrated autonomous vehicle technologies on a 3 kilometer road from Yeongdong Bridge to the southern gate of COEX in Seoul.
The company showcased technologies such as keeping inside lane, ovetaking slow-moving vehicles and returing to the original lanes.
"In order to realize sefe driving of autonomous vehicles on the real roads, we applied 'driving environment recognition technologies' and 'vehicle control technologies,'" the company's official said.
The driving environment recognition technologies estimate the accurate location via GPS and a detailed map, and identify obstacles such as vehicles nearby or pedestrians via laser scanners or cameras.
The vehicle control technologies control the cars by analyzing information of the best route and the surroundings.
