Hyundai and Kia have obtained Nevada's autonomous vehicle licenses. “Four of our vehicles, two Tucson hydrogen fuel cell vehicles and two Soul electric cars, have been be approved for road travel by Nevada,” said Hyundai Motor and its affiliate Kia Motors.
The Tucson hydrogen fuel cell vehicle and the Soul EV are equipped with Hyundais’ independently-developed autonomous driving technologies, including Traffic Jam Assist, Highway Driving Assist and Narrow Passage Assist, etc.
Hyundai and Kia plan to test-drive their self-driving cars first on the highways of Nevada and move on to urban areas teeming with traffic lights, pedestrian crossings and pedestrians. Hyundai and Kia aim to develop and commercialize highly advanced autonomous cars by 2020 and fully autonomous ones by 2030.
