Korean Air said on Sunday it signed a deal with the Defense Acquisition Program Administration to mass produce unmanned aerial vehicles.
The project, which is expected to end by 2016, costs around 400 billion won, which includes 230 billion won at the first level by 2018.
The 4.2 meters wide and 3.4 meters high unmanned vehicle is designed to land accurately even at a narrow area, at night or on a foggy day.
It is equipped with an auto tracking system, which can identify objects outside 10 kilometers. The vehicle developed by Korean Air was certified at the operation test carried out last year for the first time as a local unmanned vehicle.
Korean Air has been pushing ahead with exploring markets for unmanned vehicles in the Central Asia and South America.
The firm is currently developing VTOL unmanned vehicle, unmanned helicopters and unmanned fighters, which can be operated even on mountains.
