Samsung Electronics plans to open a virtual reality (VR)-dedicated studio in New York.
Marc Mathieu, CMO of Samsung Electronics America, said during his participation in the Sundance Film Festival held in Park City in Utah on January 22, “We plan to open a VR studio in New York City. The studio will be located within the building where Samsung’s New York marketing office is located.”
Samsung Electronics opened a separate VR experience pavilion during the world’s largest home electronics show CES 2016 which was held in Las Vegas early this year. The pavilion enjoyed huge popularity with the number of visitors exceeding 10,000 people.
Samsung Electronics also held a special VR event during the Sundance Film Festival, allowing visitors to have special VR experience. Moreover, Samsung Electronics signed a partnership agreement with the Organizing Committee of the Sundance Film Festival. Under the agreement, Samsung will support film makers.
