The world's major electric car makers will show off their state-of-the-art technologies in Jeju. The world's unique pure electric car motor show "IEVE 2016" is set to open in the island for a week from March 18.
As many as 120 electric car and component makers are scheduled to take part in there, a sharp increase from last year's 73. They will display a variety of industry-leading electric car-related products and technologies, awaiting an evaluation from consumers. The organizers expect the number of visitors to reach about 80,000 this year.
Hyundai Motor will showcase the Ioniq Electric, an electric car model of its eco-friendly brand Ioniq, at the IEVE 2016, first in Korea. The Ioniq Electric is the second in Hyundai Motor's Ioniq series following the hybrid model released in January.
The Ioniq Electric, which was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show on March 2, can run for a distance of 169 kilometers with a single charging. It has a maximum output of 120 horsepower and a maximum speed of 165 kilometers per hour.
