Bakery giant SPC, the operator of the Paris Baguette chain, is poised to spur on its franchise business in the US. SPC Group has recently said that it opened Paris Baguette Hostetter, its first franchise store in San Jose, California, and will ramp up its efforts to expand its franchise business in the US market. SPC Group plans to open about 10 franchise stores in the US within this year.
Since SPC Group opened its first Paris Baguette bakery in L.A. back in 2005, it has been operating 45 direct stores.
Since 2013 SPC Group opened Paris Baguette bakeries in major commercial districts in Manhattan, New York. It is operating 9 directly-managed Paris Baguette outlets near its first franchise store in San Hose. The group said it started the franchise business in the U.S. in earnest after making thorough preparations.
An official from SPC Group USA said: “With the opening of the Paris Baguette Hostetter in San Jose, we are set to open run 350 directly-operated and franchise-based stores across the U.S. by 2020.
Paris Baguette Hostetter, a bakery café sitting on a site of 225.8 square meters, is located on Hostetter Rd, an important arterial road in San Jose.
Paris Baguette has been focusing on selling pastries and cakes and introduced premium coffee brand Café Adagio to differentiate its coffee from other rivlas.
Meanwhile, SPC Group announced last year that it would operate 2,000 Paris Baguette stores in the U.S. and China -- their top two overseas markets -- by 2030. Paris Baguette is planning to expand into Washington D.C. and other states such as Virgina, Maryland, Illinois and Texas, according to SPC.
