On January 21, 2010, the Korea Communications Commission and other organizations such as Korea Information Society Development Institute (KISDI), KAIT, Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI), participated in the 2010 Communications Industry Outlook Conference which was held at Seoul Lotte Hotel. At the event, they analyzed situations within specific communications industry including the mobile enterprise, 3D enterprise, next generation electric power industry, and cutting-edge technology. The main objective of the event was to improve the communications industry as a whole. Chairman Choi Si Joong stated, "This year, for the broadcasting communications industry to advance, the entire IT industry must advance as a whole. To demonstrate global leadership within the world, it is necessary for one to continuously improve their IT industry."
The main point discussed was that the IT industry must create a new paradigm. Goals for the upcoming year include spreading mobile services and to create a new revolutionary trend in the communications industry. For example, the PC revolutionized a new era in the 1980's as well as the Internet boom in the 2000's.
Bang Suk Ho the KISDI President stated, “The communications industry's cable market dropped by 4.5 percent for this year while the mobile industry has increased by 3.1 percent to a market scale of about US$20 billion. In addition, the internet and gaming industry has increased by 12.7 percent. Other predictions also include the cell phone and TV industries, which are expected to grow by 8.9 percent this year to a total scale of US$77 billion.
Meanwhile, a major point in the event is to prepare for 3D display and imaging for the new year. Major Korean display companies as well as the government are putting in their best efforts to create a 3D broadcasting station as well as 3D display.
Oh Heh Suk stated, "Samsung, LG and other Korean companies are aiming to sell 3DTV products. The government is also seeking to find the necessary support overseas to achieve the goal of 3D display."
