On January 28, 2010, South Korea's President Lee Myung Bak was present at the G20 Economic Leader's Meeting. The event is known as the 40th World Economic Forum and was held at the Swiss Davos Congress Center in Switzerland. The President was present to discuss matters about essential tasks and challenges that the world is currently facing. His speech covered global problems and how to accomplish certain essential tasks and challenges. He stated, "There are many important things that must be practiced as of right now, and fulfilling these duties are the most important thing." He also stated, "We must reach an agreement for the Doha Development Agenda (DDA) as soon as possible for the sake of blocking protectionism and to create a resolution. Also, the world's financial and economical crisis must be corrected by widening the open market and creating a worldwide vision together that involves protectionism and setting boundaries.
During his speech, the President also stated that he wants to break the trend of the current global imbalance. His goal is not only for his country, but the world as well. He wants to create a new paradigm in the global market in attempts of fixing the global economy. He stressed the fact that the world must work together and the leaders must display leadership to accomplish this goal.
Other topics that were discussed at this forum included aiding earthquake-ravaged Haiti and helping Africa steer towards prosperity.
