The term of sound replication will be somewhat unfamiliar to you. In fact, you know cell replication, pig replication, animal replication and DNA replication as you heard of them before, but you have never heard about the sound replication.

The term of sound replication is being used in this column for the first time. Then, what is the sound replication that is different from sound recording or copy

Speaking easily, it refers to the technology that creates a full spectrum sound of over five octaves with just a single part (syllable) of sound like replicating an animal by cultivating stem cells. It is possible to replicate the whole sound with just a single syllable of the sound made by humans, sound by nature and sound by animal.

Then, what is the sound
The sound that we hear has its unique pattern of frequency and frequency, and it has a characteristic of delivering it through a medium called air. According to a kind of medium, sound will be heard differently even if it is the same sound. Through such gas as argon or helium, the frequency will be different, so that the sound widely different from the one we have heard will be heard.

As a result, it has been used as a voice modulation method of those who are reluctant to disclose their identity at broadcast.

In a vacuum state, meanwhile, it is impossible to deliver sound as there is no medium to do it.
As a person has his or her inherent tone, we can find who the person is in case of hearing the sound. It is because everybody has his or her intrinsic frequency pattern, called tone. Namely, if there is a syllable of sound, it can be expanded and constituted to a total voice area consisting of sound like the cell replication.

If such a sound replication technology is succeeded, an enormous application field can be created.
Just with a syllable of the sound of wind, we can make an instrument of the full spectrum sound of wind. Also we can make an instrument for play by replicating a syllable of the sound of nature such as the sound of running water in mountainous district, the sound of thunder and the sound of falling leaves.

It could bring in an era that a tone-deaf person like Jung Yeon-tae can sing a song very well like a famous singer by replicating a syllable of his intrinsic voice.

Instruments representing dozens or hundreds of times the instruments that have been so far made by human beings can be made. Moreover, we can make an instrument just with a syllable of a bird's intrinsic sound. Besides instrument, the world of sound that we have never heard could be open.
Instruments that are more beautiful and mellifluous than piano, violin, drum, janggu, saxophone and trumpet can be created.

If Korea possesses such an original technology, we don't need to worry about food for the future generation. It will open a new chapter, along with Big Data, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IOT), drone, 3D printing and self-driving cars known as the territory of the 4th industrial revolution.
The core of the 4th industrial revolution is sensor technology!

The sensor technology will be developed into the direction that can replace the five-sense function of human beings. Namely, it will be developed into the direction that is more outstanding in function and more excellent in performance than five senses of human beings. Like a microscope with which we can see the microscopic world like virus or germ that we cannot see with a man's eye and like a telescope with which we can see a distant object that we cannot see with a man's eye, the function development of a sensor will become an axis.

On the other hand, sensors equipped with new sensor function in addition to the five senses will be developed. New sensors equipped with the sixth, seventh, eighth and ninth sense that a man does not possess will be developed.

In this sense, the sound replication technology is the territory of the next generation after new sensor territory. Because it is the territory of creation that can create something out of nothings, beyond the sensor territory.

The conception and application field have been dealt with in this column and the sound replication technology will be introduced in the next column.
