LG Electronics announced on the 21st that it is planning a large-scale release of HDR (High Dynamic Range) monitors this year to take the lead in the HDR monitor market, which is the next generation in image quality. HDR technology expresses light and colors that become blurred during the video production process in a clearer way.
The obscure part of the screen becomes darker while the light part becomes brighter, creating a vivid screen. The company explained that the HDR monitors are the leading technology in the high definition monitor market, excelling during the production of movies and games.
LG Electronics will release the HDR monitors in 27in, 32 in, 34 in, 38 in, and other sizes in Korea this year. It will further expand the line-up to 11 items this year, including the 6 items that are already being sold.
Last year, there was only one type of HDR monitor, but the company plans to diversify its line-up of HDR monitors by including 21:9 screens, 16:9 screens, gaming screens, and UHD (Ultra High Definition) screens to significantly increase the range of consumer choices.
LG Electronics is significantly expanding its HDR monitor line-up because the HDR contents market is expanding rapidly. Currently, Hollywood film producers, online video streaming service providers, and gaming companies are scrambling to produce HDR content.
LG Electronics’ flagship HDR monitor (model name: 38WK95C) offers a totally different HDR experience. This product supports the ‘HDR 10’ specification and 100 percent of the SrgB, the main color domain standard. The content creators can also express colors, brightness, and other aspects as intended, so users can enjoy movies and games that are expressed as they were originally intended in a clear and colorful way.The monitor is also equipped with WQHD+(3849x1600) resolution, a full-sized 38 in screen, and a 21:9 screen ratio.
LG Electronics has said that creators will be able to create content on the same big screens as actual movies, and viewers will be able to enjoy the immersive experience offered by the full screen.
