KT and Recon Hi-tech have released ‘AIR i’, a system that can locate the lost or stolen electric bicycle.
‘Air i’ is an electric bicycle equipped with Internet of Things (IoT) technology and ‘KT Smart Mobility Platform’. The KT Smart Mobility Platform can control real-time location information and control some functions by interfacing with the LTE-M network.
According to the Ministry of Public Administration and Security, the average number of lost or stolen bikes reported per day is 30 in 2014 and 20,000 a year.
Some municipalities operate bicycle compulsory registration systems and integrated management systems. However, it is difficult to find bicycles that operate with fewer users and operate systems by region.
KT and Recon Hi-tech will provide customers who bought the ‘Air i’ with the KT Smart Mobility Platform for ‘Lost Bicycle locator’ service which confirms the latest location of lost or stolen products; moreover, the misuse of lost Air I for other purposes such as resale ‘Remote power control’ service that prevents the motors of the product from being operated arbitrarily.
Meanwhile, ‘Air I’ is foldable and can be carried by public transportation such as subways, KTX, Alloy 6061 frame and fork using a battery and motor equipped. Nevertheless, it weighs about 15kg and is similar to a life style bicycle. When battery is fully charged, it can travel comfortably up to about 60km (flat, pedal assist system, user less than 65kg, and average speed of 15km/hr)
