Hyundai Merchant Marine signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on strategic cooperation with Oracle to strengthen IT competitiveness based on ‘Industry 4.0’. As the developer of the next-generation IT system based on the cloud of Hyundai Merchant Marine, Oracle is expanding its collaboration in the IT sector with Hyundai Merchant Marine.

Hyundai Merchant Marine plans to cooperate with Oracle in order to: establish cloud-based working environments, collaborate with business cooperation between Industry 4.0 and shipping IT, collaborate with new technology service through Joint Lab, enhance competitiveness through enhancement of global brand value, and interchanges between the two companies through the Steering Committee.
In particular, the two companies actively pursued cooperation in introducing new technologies related to the 4th Industrial Revolution such as Block chain, Internet of Things (IoT), and AI, which are being pushed by Hyundai Merchant Marine through the formation of a Joint Lab. With this, it plans to improve the competitiveness of Hyundai Merchant Marine.
Through this, Hyundai Merchant Marine expects to improve its data security, work efficiency and innovation by establishing a cutting-edge cloud-based working environment. Furthermore, Oracle Korea hopes to develop more customized cloud service capabilities in the shipping industry.
“Our partnership with Oracle has created a foundation for delivering superior IT services that are differentiated from global shipping companies,” said an official of Hyundai Merchant Marine.
“It is a case in which the shipping industry, which needs to deal with a large amount of logistics information in a timely manner, will successfully purpose the adoption of advanced cloud systems,” said an official of Oracle Korea.
The ceremony was held at Hyundai Merchant Marine building in Jongro-gu, Yeongjin-dong, Seoul. The ceremony was attended by more than 30 people including Hyundai Merchant Marine CEO Yoo Chang-geun and Roger Li, Oracle’s senior vice president of the Asia-Pacific Region.
