From the 14th of June, iTunes users from Korea are allowed to access some services with their domestic account. In the past users in Korea needed to create overseas account for the services. Because of that, even though iPod was loaded with the iTunes application, Korean users could not play tunes.
The service does not distribute the critical content at the moment. However, domestic partnerships in terms of video content, content providers, copyright and distribution as well as international music are expected to expand.
It is rumored that there was an Apple prior action against local music services which planned to release applications in App Store. There are approximately three million of possible users for iTunes in Korea including iPhone (700 thousand users) and iPod touch and other iPods.
The competition in the digital music market is nothing but fierce.
