Hyundai Merchant Marine CEO Bae Jae-hoon will attend the Box Club meeting to be held in Shanghai, China, from Sept. 25.
The regular Box Club meeting will be held for two days, including an official dinner on Sept. 25 and a plenary session on Sept. 26 (local time), with CEOs of Hyundai Merchant Marine and other major global container shipping companies to attend.
Discussions on major pending issues in the shipping industry will be held at the meeting, including each country's competition laws, including the IMO Green House Gas (GHG) emission regulation.
CEO Bae will also attend the World Shipping Council (WSC) meeting, which will be held along with the Box Club meeting. Bae is serving as a member of the board of directors of the WSC, and his term of office is until September 2020.
Hyundai Merchant Marine joined the "The Alliance," one of the world's three largest shipping alliance, on July 1, when full-fledged cooperation, including joint operations, will begin from April 1 next year.
After the Box Club meeting, Bae will visit Hyundai Merchant Marine's China headquarters in Shanghai to encourage executives and employees and meet with major shippers in person and return to Korea on Sept. 28.
Meanwhile, the Box Club is a consultative body of regular container shipping companies around the world, launched in 1992. The official name is the International Council of Container Business Operators, which is usually called the Box Club, meaning container. Hyundai Merchant Marine joined in 1994.
