Virtual Reality (VR) has a number of uses. In some places it is used for aerospace or warfare training, though on the other side of life VR is used in education in order to enhance content in specific circumstances. PR Zone are a Korean company with an 8 scenario virtual studio solution using one static camera that they are able to customize into an environment.
Universities in Korea have taken to the virtual studio in a big way. And it isn't in the name of novelty. There are many studies that have shown that Virtual Reality or Mixed Reality learning environments enhance education via speeding up the process and increasing satisfaction, eyebrow raising in the context of some applications but noteworthy nonetheless. Game developers caught onto this a while ago and game releases with mixed reality components are commonplace all over the world [such as static one camera TV based dancing games etc].
Kyung il University have developed an e-learning contents program with the PR Zone eight scenario generic system under the direction of Bae-kwang, Hun. Seyung, Suncheon and Junbuk universities have also applied the technology to learning.
This medium is unexplored in many countries, though has application to make all manner of explorations appealing. Application of the studio is open to the imagination, though no one from 'Avatar' was seen at the PR Zone booth, this year anyway.
Beyond e-learning, PR Zone's virtual studio has also been applied in the likes of singing rooms (Noraebangs) and the intent of the exhibition where Korea IT Times discovered them, in broadcasting.
