So far, the World Cup has been quite thrilling for South Korea and fans. In their first match, they defeated Greece 2-0. However, in their second match against Argentina yesterday, they lost by a score of 4-1. Lee Chung yong provided South Korea with their only goal of the match. Even with the loss yesterday, advancement to the round 16 is possible. A win against Nigeria will almost guarantee them entry into the round 16. As of right now, they are holding on to 2nd place in Group B with 3 points. The top 2 teams of the group advance to the round of 16 and South Korea's third and last match of group play will be on June 23rd against Nigeria.
Fans all around South Korea gathered together to cheer on the South Korean soccer team. Fans gathered at local places, restaurants and even theaters. Theaters have been a popular location for many fans, who are able to watch it in 2D or even 3D. One popular location was the Lotte Cinema in Yeongdongpo. Over 200 fans gathered at this theater to enjoy the Argentina vs. South Korea match in 3D. Another location is the local CGV movie theaters which will broadcast the Nigeria vs. South Korea match with a live late-night screening. Tickets for this theater are set at KRW 7,000 for 2D and KRW 10,000 for 3D. During the World Cup, 43 of Korea's theaters will show matches on over 35 3D screens and over 100 2D screens.
