Samsung Display made an announcement that it held Samsung OLED Forum 2019 Taipei at the Grand Maple Hotel in Taipei on Nov. 7 with 350 people from 25 major customers, including global IT companies such as HP, Dell, Lenovo, and Asus, as well as major Original Development Manufacturing (ODM) companies such as Compal, Quanta, and Wistron
At the event, Samsung Display presented OLED laptops as a new growth engine for the stagnant IT market and introduced differentiated strengths that only OLEDs can provide.
Under the theme of "New Era of Laptop with OLED," Samsung Display emphasized quality characteristics that are essential for premium laptops, such as OLED's thin and light design flexibility, infinite contrast ratio, and DCI-P3 100 percent optical area and color accuracy, and excellent outdoor visibility.
It also introduced roadmaps for OLED's strong display sensor convergence technology such as Fingerprint Display and Sound Display.
Samsung Display already developed OLEDs for 13.3-inch and 15.6-inch laptops in the first half of this year and released a total of 13 types of laptops in cooperation with HP, Dell, Lenovo and Asus. Samsung Display is planning to release an additional 13.3-inch FHD model sometime next year and expand its product lineup to mid-end and actively respond to demands from markets.
"Samsung Display's OLED will change the paradigm of premium laptops with overwhelming picture quality, outdoor visibility, low power consumption and thin and light structural characteristics, and provide consumers with different experiences in using them." said Vice-President Kim Sung-chul of Samsung Display's small and medium-sized products division.
