Coupang said on Dec. 5 that it has scouted Alberto Fornaro as its new chief financial officer (CEO).
CFO Fornaro has been active in global companies in Europe, South Korea and the United States as a corporate financial management expert for 25 years.
Before joining Coupang, he served as CFO and EVP of IGT PLC (International Game Technology) and contributed to growing IGT into a global game company.
He previously led the company's global business expansion in the highly competitive construction machinery industry market by taking the helm of the global CFO of Doosan Infracore Construction Machinery and representative of the European, Middle East and Africa (EMEA).
Prior to this, he was general manager and CFO of fitness equipment manufacturer Technogym, and was a finance executive at CNH Global, Fiat Group, Cassa Di Risparmio Di Perugia and Credito Italiano.
He holds a master's and bachelor's degrees in finance from the University of Siena in Italy and has completed the Advanced Management Program at Harvard University. He also worked as a visiting fellow at Columbia University's Ph.D. course in economics.
“The wealth of experience and financial insight of CFO Fornaro will greatly help Coupang in the process of continuously lowering prices while increasing its selection for customers and improving its services," said Kim Beom-seok, CEO of Coupang.
